"Jim...Houghton...(where are you?)"

TYPE: Class A with Class C

This extraordinary EVP was captured by an investigator during a tour of Rolling Hills Country Mall on the second floor of the East Wing, built in the late fifties. The second floor of the East Wing was the dormitory for the women residents who were ambulatory and in fairly good health.

At the time of the recording, significant disturbances and ranges in a room were suddenly being noted by an EMF detector. As one investigator was determining the parameters of the area of disturbance, the other asked "What's your name?"

The response is a startlingly loud and clear male voice saying "Jim!...Houghton!"... (and then either "Hey" or even "Where-areya?")

The first part of the EVP is Class A due to the strength and clarity, and the follow-up remark made by the entity is subclassified as Class C due to the loss of strength and clarity.

Immediately after asking the question, a picture was snapped of the investigator who was examining the energy field, and a bright clear energy ball (orb) was captured 'next' to him.* Subsequent photos did not show the energy orb, nor did they capture 'dust' shots.

Shortly afterward, the energy field dissipated and was not detected again later that evening (during a re-investigation of the room) nor during later visits to the site.

Follow up research has not uncovered the name in the Rolling Hills "Book of the Dead" (a record of nearly 1000 names of residents who died at the county home) nor was there a guest registered during the tour that night with that name, or even a "Jim" or a "James" registered that night.

The surname "Houghton" is found throughout Genesee and nearby Wyoming counties, so the possibility is that the recorded EVP is the voice of an intern or employee of the home (of which records are not available) or even of a family member of a resident who for some reason has chosen to remain at the location. And, of course, there is the possibility that the voice recorded is not of a resident or employee at all, but just some soul passing through and drawn to the question being asked.

Also recorded during this incident was a low voice, speaking in a rumbling tone, that was not the voice of either investigator.

At the time of the investigation of the room, the S.P.I.R.I.T. investigators were alone on the entire wing.

* Energy 'orbs' are notoriously difficult to judge where they are in relation to the other objects or people in the room. The shot may have captured something directly in front of the lens of the camera, which showed up in the photo as if being next to the investigator. It is mentioned here due to the other data recorded at the time of the incident.
