Private Residence 2 (Bennington, NY)

- EVP
In the spring of 2006, one of the members of S.P.I.R.I.T. was in the process of purchasing a home that had been repossessed by the bank in a foreclosure action. The home had been empty for almost a year. Prior to moving in to the historical old home, S.P.I.R.I.T. conducted two official investigations and an unofficial session to see if anything would be captured.
Unofficial investigation 1: During one of the inspections of the home, several walk-throughs were conducted with a digital recorder turned on. Several whispering EVP's were captured, including one where an investigator jokingly mispronounced the word "Animal" when discussing the view of the woods and fields beyond the room that her daughter wanted for her own. Immediately afterwards, a male voice is heard 'correcting' her and pronouncing the word appropriately.
Investigation 2:
After the first EVP, the interest in doing a full investigation of the home was sparked. The members set up in their base in the kitchen of the home. The home is 3000 sq. feet, including a dirt floor basement that is accessible by a dungeon-like door in the floor complete with an iron ring to pull open with, and a full walk up attic. Since this basically encompassed four floors, the team was conducting a test of their walkie-talkies to make sure that they were all operating correctly and on the same channel. The four members were all in a circle, facing each other and 'testing' the equipment when a fifth voice unexpectedly came through on the channel they were testing.
The voice was of a female, and she was responding to their "testing...testing..." utterances, and was preceded by the normal 'squawk' of a walkie-talkie. Although it was clear that they were picking up a local ham operator on the channel, one member instinctively turned on a digital recorder in order to capture the information for debunking purposes. Unexpectedly, during the review of the information later, it was discovered that during this exchange, other voices were heard in the kitchen with the investigators, and they were responding to the questions the investigators were asking the ham operator.
During a session by two investigators upstairs with divining rods, appropriate responses occurred.
The third investigation occurred when two members of S.P.I.R.I.T. gained access to the home during the day in order to get it ready for moving in. Their pet dog "Moka" was in the home with them as they went through the house and were cleaning. At one point, the male investigator was on the second floor, alone with the dog, and had the digital recorder on. As he asked "Do you remember me? This is my dog Moka. (then, jokingly) "She's a good puppy dog". A male voice is heard responding "Moka...Moka!"
During that same time, Moka was noticed 'tracking' as if there were someone else in the room with her and her master.
Since that time, there have been unexplained noises, footsteps and visual sightings on the second floor of an older gentleman by the teenage son, and doors opening, sudden extreme drops in temperature, and 'frights' of someone awakening the teen during the night. Once he was so startled out of sleep by the seemingly solid person in front of him that he took a swing at it, at which point it disappeared.
The member of S.P.I.R.I.T. who bought the home, needless to say, is quite pleased with these events and is happily researching the history to find out who or what might be living with them.
